Weekly Digest #85: Adjunct Questions
We recently featured a blog post on recent research showing that prequestions can be useful for learning from video lectures. However, research on adjunct questions is not new. Much of this research builds on work that was pioneered by Rothkopf in the late 1960s. Today, we provide several resources related to adjunct questions, including some background research and ideas for classroom implementation. 1) The Effect of Adjunct Learning on Prose Learning by Christiaan Hamaker
We start with a review of the research on adjunct questions. This review paper is a bit older, but is excellent for the review of the wealth of research inspired by Rothkopf's work.
2) Tenuring Adjunct Questions by Mike Ochs @ReadWriteMike
Mike Ochs provides tips for how to prepare to use adjunct questions in class and factors to consider when doing so. He emphasizes that, while questions can be useful, asking too many questions can be a problem.
